How to Throw a Cute Full Moon Party

If you are looking for a magical “mom’s night in”, this Full Moon Pizza Party is probably exactly what you need. Gather a few of your closest friends for a mini outdoor shindig that is both playful and chic. The setup is not too difficult, and you can get creative with the décor that you use. Tap into your intuition as you gather under the full moon. It may even become a monthly tradition with your besties after the kids have gone to bed.

decor & Tablescape

  • Place a carpet or large blanket down on the ground.

  • Create a ground table by using a folding table (without the legs) as the tabletop and two crates or boxes on either end to hold the table up. This will create an easy low to the ground dinner table.

  • If you like the tabletop surface, then leave it be or add a flowy tablecloth.

  • Add large pillows as chairs for each place setting.

  • Use pretty tarot cards as a “runner” down the middle of the table.

  • Fill in the blank spots of the “runner” with different colored taper candles and lanterns.

  • The centerpiece can consist of any “magical” things you have - incense, crystals, rocks, candles, books, tarot cards, etc.

Placesettings

  • Create a pretty “moon” placesetting with a black plastic charger and gold glitter. Use decoupage to hold the glitter in place the way you would like it. You can make all the charges look like the same moon phase or have each charger be different.

  • Add fancy drinking goblets or decoupage glitter onto large wine glasses.

  • Finish with the customized pizza box as a place card and pan (explained later).

Menu

  • Let guests build their own personal pizza. Ask guests ahead of time what type of pizza toppings they like and create a personalized pizza box for them. The box should include a ball of pizza dough, a small container of pizza sauce or white sauce, and their personalized toppings in individual bags. Put their name on the top of the box and it doubles as a place card.

  • Add a small pizza pan next to each place setting for constructing the pizza.

  • Once guests have constructed their pizzas on their personal pizza pans, collect and bake in the oven.

  • Begin the evening with the aperitif and DIY Pizza.

  • After dinner, clear the table of food and mingle around the center of the table for amateur tarot card readings, “moon spells”, and any other magical activities you can come up with.

  • Guests can fill up their pizza box with cards, incense, candles, and crystals to take home.
