3 Ways to Camp At Home
It’s National Camping Month! Who knew!? I have been all about the camping lately. I think it is stemming from my overall theme for the year – Magic. There is something so magical about being outside all night long, under the stars, surrounded by trees, hearing little noises… I just love it.
I used to camp often as a Girl Scout and have very fond memories of those experiences. That is probably why I am so pressed about camping right now and have already done it twice here at home this season. I’ve come up with 3 ways that you can go camping without leaving your property. And trust me, its super fun. Camping party here we come!
Full On: In the Backyard
This is for a more authentic experience. If you have a backyard and you have a tent, I highly suggest doing this! It will be a fun little escape, without going anywhere.
Go to the farthest corner from your house and setup a tent.
Pack like you are going on a real trip.
Build a little fire (if you can), roast hotdogs, fill up a cooler of drinks.
Make a pact to stay out all night.
Listen to the sounds of your backyard, try and watch the moon and stars, put away your phone!
Half-Way There: On a porch or patio
This is probably my favorite vibe just because it combines being outside with nature but also having the comforts of home. It’s almost like a tree-house feel. I absolutely love sitting outside on my patio all night long, it is even more fun to then sleep out there as well!
When you set up camp on a porch or patio, you can use a tent, make a fort or just set out sleeping bags if then patio is covered.
Create a campfire menu with foods that you can grill outside.
Play games, tell stories, watch the sun set and try to unplug!
Glamping: In the Living Room
Talk about cuteness level - this is where my DIY moms can get really creative.
Build a fort out of sheets and rope.
Add tons of texture with pillows and blankets – make it super cozy, a place you just want to cuddle up in.
You can even add lanterns with tea lights, hang string lights, and decorate with banners.
Situate your “camp” near a fireplace and TV – viola, instant glamping.
Pop some popcorn, make ice cream sundaes, turn on a favorite old movie and enjoy the night!
