5 Stay-at-Home Father’s Day Party Ideas

I think most people by now are definitely trying to branch out and think of out of the box things to do at home. If my husband could have it his way this year, we would probably celebrate at the beach. But in the past, my husband always worked on the weekends, so I have traditionally thrown a Father’s Day Shindig here at home.

Here are some of my favorite “Dad” parties from over the years…

Grilling

1.     Grill-Off Competition

Who says Dad is the only one who can grill? Host a cooking competition using the grill only. You can have every competing family member pick a food item out of a hat a few days prior to the competition so that they can get a game plan going. If you have little ones, make it a team effort. Create a day of it from breakfast all the way through dinner. Dad gets to choose his favorite dish of the day, yes - even his own. Ideas for food items can include…

  • Steak & Eggs for Breakfast

  • Grilled Cheese (literally) for Lunch

  • Grilled Fruits and Veggie Skewers for Snacks

  • The Best Burger w/ all grilled sides for Dinner

  • Grilled Peach Cobbler for Dessert

 2.     Crab or Seafood Feast

Here in Maryland, I almost always do a Crab Feast on Father’s Day. But if you are not from the Eastern Shore or don’t have access to Crabs, you can always do a good old- fashioned Seafood Boil for Father’s Day. For this party, all you really need is an outdoor space, a covered table and seafood to crack open. Put on some good tunes and you are set.

Cornhole

 3.     Backyard Tournament

For the young at heart, set up all of Dad’s favorite youthful games. You know, all the ones he said he used to be so good at in college. Prove it Dad! Backyard games + a cooler of chilled beer = a happy daddy. Ideas for backyard games can include…

  • Cornhole

  • Beer Pong

  • Flip Cup

  • Flag Football

  • Horseshoes

4.     Camping

You don’t have to go deep into the woods to have an awesome camping adventure. The backyard is plenty of fun if you use your imagination! Help Dad and the kids pack up for their epic adventure (that you set up of course) and toss them out back. They are NOT allowed back in the house until morning. This actually sounds more like Mother’s Day (lol). Or you can join in the fun as well.

Beers

5.     Home Brewery Tour

Take dad on a “Brewery Tour”, in your own home. Purchase about 5 different beers and setup a surprise tasting at your house. Make a yummy cheese and meat display and enjoy a fun night! Beer themes can include…

  • Local beers to your hometown or state

  • Beers from places you have traveled together

  • Dad’s favorites: maybe all IPA’s or all Hard Ciders

This year Father’s Day and the first day of Summer are back to back! If you start planning now, you can come up with some really incredible (and easy) ways to celebrate Dad, family, and Summer Solstice. Some of these ideas are combined and fully explained in my Summer Solstice Celebration Party Plan. You can learn more about that plan here.

I am super excited to plan and celebrate Father’s Day this year because we have two new additions to the family! It is going to be such a fun weekend that likely combines a little bit of all the ideas I listed above like the Summer Solstice Celebration Plan! As always, follow me on Insta to see behind the scenes!

Cheers!
