5 steps to Creating a Super Special Halloween Movie Night

With Halloween right around the corner, watching a festive movie every night is totally reasonable! We are in the final count down after all…

To elevate movie night and make it a little more special, setup a cute snack display on a table in your movie viewing room. Use a coffee table, side table, or even bookshelf! You can keep the display up all week and just add new snacks to make it a little different.

Check out how I made this fun and easy setup in 5 steps…

Step 1

Find cute printables that match a theme that you like. Suburban Soiree has an amazing set that I highly recommend and use here. Her instant downloadable set is already Halloween movie night themed, so it just makes sense and is EASY! You can find that set here.

Download, print, and cut out anything that needs to be cut. Some prints are full size and don’t need cutting while others are mini such as bottle and straw labels. You also don’t have to use everything in the kit. Print off and use what you want. This step probably took me about 30 minutes.

Step 2

Start assembling your display! First I framed two of the larger Movie Night signs in frames that I use to swap out signage all of the time. Next I took some small wooden blocks and taped some of the other signs to them so they would stand up. Last, I made the “Boo” banner with twine and tape!

Tip: If you run out of frames (or don’t have any), you can always use your kids blocks, cups/glasses, or even books to help make things stand up. Simply tape the sign to anything that is semi heavy/durable and will help the sign stand.

Step 3

Add more decor and ambiance. I added some candles and little ghosts in a cauldron to this display. With the printables, luckily not much else is needed. The framed prints and banner looked super cute all set up.

I also did not use all of the items in the printable kit at once. This will allow me to swap some things out throughout the week. I can swap out some of the signs for different ones or use different bottle labels to keep things interesting.

Have fun with the decor and setup! All you really need is some fun signs, a candle or two, and snacks.

Step 4

Elevate the experience. This is one of my favorite parts about putting little shindigs like this together. Yes, we have movie night quite often, so making it a little unique is so fun for kids.

For instance, I LOVE these Admit One tickets. I passed them out to everyone, and made them hand them in before they could sit down to watch the movie.

Step 5

Add the snacks. For Monday’s movie I decided to serve cookies and candy. I set out little leftover favor bags from a past party for us to fill with candy and cookies. The bags can be used all week to fill with whatever treats are made. I will likely keep the candy out all week but swap out the main snack for different things each night.

Some other easy movie night snacks include popcorn, chips, pretzels, trail mix, Chex mix, mixed nuts, caramel apples, and Oreo’s. Or if you are feeling extra fancy, make a themed snack from one of the movies! I love how Suburban Soiree does this.

There is really nothing better than an impromptu special night for your kids and family. This setup will stay out all week long as we end the day with a Halloween movie and special snack. It’s easy to setup, super budget friendly, and something that my kids will grow to remember and love.

This would be a PERFECT activity for Halloween night this year. But you can also check out many other ideas that I rounded up on the Mega Halloween Blog.

Happy Halloween Week Witches!
